Charles Yates Davis

Charles Y. Davis is a Partner with Brown, Hay & Stephens, LLP, primarily serving corporate clients with commercial and energy matters. On the commercial side, Mr. Davis’ clients include financial institutions, together with privately and publicly owned corporations, including public utilities, wholesale pharmaceutical companies, distributing companies, risk pools, and local governmental entities. In this respect, Mr. Davis has represented clients in contested litigation before state and federal courts, and in a variety of transactional matters, including contracts, workouts, licensing matters, and asset and stock transactions involving extensive business assets and public utility systems.

With respect to his energy practice, Mr. Davis has advised and represented public utilities, private companies, and associations regarding matters before the Illinois Commerce Commission. Mr. Davis has represented his clients in a variety of matters, including contested citation proceedings, customer complaints, service area agreements, asset sales, rulemakings, certificate proceedings, legislation, and transmission proceedings. Further, Mr. Davis has also represented energy clients with environmental, oil and gas matters.

While at Brown, Hay & Stephens, LLP, Mr. Davis has served his community and profession. He has served on numerous charitable and civic boards, and in April 2012 was elected to the 27-member Board of Governors that oversees the operations and management of the Illinois State Bar Association. Mr. Davis is a graduate of Quincy University (2002) and Southern Illinois University School of Law (2005). Prior to his legal career, Mr. Davis worked and interned in numerous political campaigns and in the United States Senate.
