Biography
Jon Erickson, known formally as Jonathan Parker Erickson, is a Decatur native and attended Decatur public schools through 12th grade. He graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1991 and completed his undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice Sciences at Illinois State University in 1995. He received his Juris Doctorate from Southern Illinois University in 1999. He was admitted to practice law in the State of Illinois in 2000.
Jon worked as an Assistant State's Attorney for Macon County from Spring 2000 until December 2000 at which time he joined the law firm of Erickson, Davis, Murphy, Johnson, Griffith & Walsh, LTD. He soon became a partner of the firm and practiced alongside his father, Fred, for nearly 17 years. Jon is married and has one son, Fred.
On August 1, 2017, Jon started his own practice as a sole practitioner. Unlike any other law firm or attorney in the Decatur area, Jon's practice is concentrated exclusively in the areas of divorce law and family law (including juvenile law, Orders of Protection, guardianship cases involving children, DCFS cases, Civil No-Contact Orders, adoption cases and criminal defense for domestic-related offenses). Jon is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Decatur Bar Association. Although his office is located in Decatur in Macon County, Jon routinely accepts cases and travels to virtually all neighboring counties as well.

Dragged his feet
Dragged his feet in our divorce because he felt like my ex deserved payback and should wait. Acting unprofessionally when it was uncontested and should have been over and done.

Replied last July 16, 2023After speaking with my staff, we believe we have identified the individual who wrote this review. It was fairly easy to determine as I very rarely have a client who is dissatisfied. As sometimes happens, clients are unable to pay their bills. After an extended period of time, I will insist on payment. When that happens, purely in an effort not pay, they will lash out, complain, and fabricate complaints. This person, if it's who we think it is, was highly complimentary of my efforts during his/her entire case. It was only after I got serious about paying his/her final bill that they lashed out and posted this negative review. Please disregard this unfair and untrue review.

Best in town!
Jon was very patient with me and also very responsive. The other party in my divorce hired Guy Casey who is frankly the worst in town and Jon was right on top of everything!

Excellent representation
Jon did a fantastic job of explaining my options, what the laws allow, and which direction to go in my divorce. He and his staff kept me informed of the status of the divorce on a regular basis. His caring and friendly demeanor helped me through a trying time

Excellent Job
Jon did an excellent job. He advised me of all the pitfalls and represented me through divorce and then 5 years later when my ex wanted to move away and take the kids with her. Great that he was there. Additionally, he was sensitive to financial information and needs.
