We were contacted by a group of relatives that hired us in regard to investigating the administration of an estate. It turned out that the person in charge, acting as Administrator, was not a beneficia ... ry or an heir, including because he had lost rights to inherit by virtue of an adoption that occurred decades before the death of the decedent, and he should have been serving as Administrator. After this was discovered, the Court discharged the Administrator and one of our clients was placed in charge of the estate and our clients received an inheritance in excess of $500,000.00.

We recovered in excess of $100,000.00 for out-of-state beneficiaries that lived in the State of Florida relating to a contested estate in St. Clair County, Illinois. It turned out that their step-moth ... er, who was the executor of the estate, engaged in self dealing prior to and after the death of her husband. Through discovery, including depositions, we were able to reach a settlement that exceeded the expectations of our clients without a trial.

We were involved in a divorce case where the wife received in excess of $3,000,000.00. The parties had been married for a number of years and the husband had extramarital affairs with several women. We represented the wife of a prominent business person who had been in the agricultural business for decades and who had a multitude of customers including farmers and agricultural people throughout So ... uthern Illinois. As a result, we worked out a resolution whereby the husband basically bought out the wife over a period of years through a series of promissory notes with various payments, which included interest, with various due dates. That resulted in a generous settlement with our client but preserved the assets of the husband and his successful businesses.

We were contacted by the son, and Power of Attorney, for an elderly, blind widow who basically lost the family farm, worth in excess of $100,000.00 because she did not pay a real estate tax bill in the ... amount of $38.00 in St. Clair County, Illinois. After being hired, we immediately filed a Petition to set aside the tax deed that was issued to the tax buyer and asked for other relief. After that, through investigation and working assiduously on the case, we were able to show the tax buyer had served the wrong party and had not given proper notice to our client. As a result, we were able to reach a favorable resolution within a short period of time that restored the family farm to our client so same could be passed down to future generations.
