Difficult times

The decision to file for bankruptcy is not easy, John was there to answer all our questions thoroughly and in a timely matter. John is professional and knowledgeable, he has a way of defining the language of the law for those not familiar in that field to understand. I even had questions after our ca...se was finished and he returned my messages and answered all my questions. I could not imagine going through this process with anyone else.

Review for John Sholar

Filing for bankruptcy was a very difficult thing for me to do.I was very stressed. The minute I walked into his office,he put me at ease, did not make me feel like I was worthless, because I was filing for bankruptcy .That was very important to me, but he also was very professional, explaining every thi...ng to me. I felt like ,when I went to court, that I was properly prepared. When I had a question or problem outside the office visits he answered promptly and was very helpful. I am so glad I chose him.

Mark B Chapter 13 and subsequent home forclosure.

At the lowest point, of my lifetime of 60 years, the IRS was going to come in and garnish 100% of my income! I have an established agency, of 31 years, and getting close to thinking about my retirement! A nasty divorce got me behind in my payments to the US Treasury, and I had been 'communicating' w...ith them, on my intentions to repay my debt, and how I was going to do it. With no income, there would be no way for me to keep my business operating! I was desperate for some advice! I went to see John, and he directed me in such a manner, that I never missed a 'payday' and was able to keep up with ALL of my bills, except my home mortgage. Since I was wanting to downsize my residence, and my mortgage was more than the homes value, I decided to file the Chapter 13, to reorganize my debts (with the exception of my property). That was almost two years ago, so in another 3 years or so, I should be virtually debt free! I can get a fresh start on my retirement years, and still keep my 'head up' with some sense of pride! (The home was the first/only debt, that I 'created' but was unable to 'complete'). This was a humbling experience to me, but John made me feel absolved, from 14 years of worry-and trying to keep all of my creditors happy! Mark B.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
