Mary Ludwig practices agricultural law, estate planning and real estate law throughout Illinois, including Livingston, McLean, Ford, Iroquois, Grundy, LaSalle, Marshall, Kankakee, Vermilion and Champaign counties. She received her J.D. and M.B.A., along with a Certificate in Food and Agricultural Law from Drake University in 2005. Prior to that she received a Bachelors of Science in Agriculture Economics from the University of Illinois. Mary concentrates her practice in agricultural law, estate planning, real estate transactions and probate. Her agricultural law experience includes organization and representation of production agricultural farm operations, agricultural cooperatives, grain elevators, agricultural input suppliers, ethanol and bio-diesel plants, and specialty farm product companies, wind tower and cell tower leases and easements, pipeline, gas, public utility and fiber optic easements, sales and purchases of farm ground, including client representation for farm auctions, farm partitions, 1031 exchanges, farm, family and business estate planning, including preparation of farm management agreements, wills, trusts, healthcare and property powers of attorney and living wills.
Mary has practiced in Pontiac, Illinois since 2009 and with Johnson & Taylor since 2011. Previously she was a partner with the law firm of Dodd Ludwig Maatuka, LLC in Champaign, Illinois. Directly after completion of her Bachelors degree, she was an agricultural loan officer at the State Bank of Chrisman, while farming with her brother near Danville. Later, Mary became a fieldman for Farm Business Farm Management in the east central Illinois/ west central Indiana territory.
Mary is a member of the American Agricultural Law Association, Illinois State Bar Association and it’s Agricultural Law Section, the Livingston County Bar Association, Illinois Farm Bureau, Livingston County Farm Bureau, American AgriWomen and Illinois AgriWomen. She has had speaking engagements with Annie’s Project, Champaign County Lady Landowners, Carle Hospital Foundation, WIAI radio, the Women Changing the Face of Agriculture Conference and 1st Farm Credit.
Mary grew up on a farm in Vermilion County, Illinois and continues to actively be involved with the farm operation she and her husband Mike have in Livingston County, Illinois, with their two sons, Jacob and Justin.
