She was very unprofessional

⭐ My Experience With State’s Attorney Nicole Slee I am writing this review based on my personal experience with Nicole Slee and the way I believe my family’s juvenile/DCFS case has been handled in Tazewell County. As a mother, I walked into court expecting to be treated fairly, respectfully, an...d given a meaningful opportunity to have all of the evidence and circumstances surrounding my case considered. Instead, I left feeling humiliated, judged, unheard, and devastated. In my experience, I felt that the focus was placed heavily on my mistakes and allegations against me rather than acknowledging the progress I believe I have made, the services I have completed, my relationship with my son, and the efforts I have made to improve my life and parenting. I was especially hurt by statements made about my personal relationship and the suggestion that I was choosing a relationship over focusing on my son. I strongly disagree with that characterization. Having a relationship or having another child does not mean that I stopped loving, advocating for, or fighting for my son. There were also statements and allegations presented in connection with my case that I believe were inaccurate or did not tell the complete story. I wish those issues had been examined more carefully before being used to characterize me as a parent. My experience left me feeling that I was being prosecuted as a person rather than having my entire situation evaluated fairly. A proceeding involving the possible termination of a parent's rights is one of the most serious matters a family can face. In my opinion, every parent deserves professionalism, accuracy, fairness, and respect throughout that process. I understand that a State’s Attorney has a job to do and that their responsibility is not to agree with me. However, I also believe that government attorneys have tremendous power in juvenile cases, and with that power should come an obligation to make sure the information being presented to the court is accurate and that families are treated with dignity. I will continue using the legal process to challenge decisions I believe are wrong and to advocate for my son. This review represents my personal experience and opinions regarding how I felt I was treated during my case.
