Divorce

Hiring Allyson was the beginning of my demise. My divorce took over 4 years. The only reason anything got settled is because I negotiated it myself. She did not return phone calls, was always late to court dates .Which then were cancelled or continuances took place. All on my dime. She showed up... to meetings and court dates unprepared . Every time I met with her it was like meeting with her for the first time again. She had absolutely no idea where we had left off last or what was going on in my case.

Unreliable, judgmental, and unprofessional.

Started out wonderful but quickly became a terrible choice. She frequently showed up for court hours late and very rushed, leaving many status updates with no changes. After a few months, she stopped returning calls. I attempted to contact her regarding a serious legal matter but could not get her on... the phone. After weeks of ignored calls I was forced to make a decision on my own and she subsequently dropped me as a client for going against her legal advice; legal advice she never gave me because she would not return my calls. Also, in the beginning she frequently gave me advice on my personal life on matters that had nothing to do with the divorce. Advice I never asked for on things that I didn't tell her about but that had been casually mentioned to her in passing by my ex. The final nail in the coffin was when I saw her smiling and waving and making chit-chat with my ex after dropping me as a client. I do not belive she is professional at all. While she may have knowledge of the divorce laws in Illinois, her ethics leave much to be desired.

Kind but not efficiently effective

As with many lawyers costly monthly continuences with no progresses was a norm. My specific dissatisfaction, however, was due to a lack of follow through on commitments and poor documentation that required re-work. It felt like she purposely made errors in the documentation so she could go back to ...make corrections and double charge me for the work. Additionally, she fell ill for over a month stalling the case. She had no back up in place to take over her cases. This seemed unprofessional as most practices have a partnership with others to back fill for vacations and emergencies. When she returned to work, everything had to be redone. More billing! Though she is a kind, lovely person personally, her skill at efficiently managing a case and office leaves a lot to be desired.
