Richard Kepler Van Evera

I practice in the field of civil litigation.  My areas of concentration and expertise include  product liability, personal injury, employment discrimination, vechicular collision, premises liability, construction liability, workers' compensation, and  insurance coverage issues.  I represent clients, both plaintiffs and defendants, in the trial court and the appellate courts of  Illinois and some other states.  I am admitted to practice in all Illinois courts, and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois-Trial Bar.                    

Over the years, I have been pleased to serve the Court system in Illinois whenever possible. I was selected by,  then Illinois Supreme Court Chief Justice, Thomas Moran to serve on a Blue Ribbon Commission charged with filling a judicial vacancy in the 17th judicial circuit . I served on the  committee which put in place the  Illinois Supreme Court annexed  pilot project  on mandatory arbitration.

I was born in Hinsdale, Illinois and received a B.A. in History  with a concentration in Political Science at Coe College, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 1970.  I was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force in 1970, and served on active duty from 1970 to 1974, including a tour in Southeast Asia (1971-1972), and left active duty as a captain. In August of 1978 I began my career with the firm. My wife, Marcy, and I have two adult children: Nikolaus and Courtney.

I  am rated (AV) by Martindale-Hubble a service which rates lawyers based on peer reviews and reputation for legal ability and ethical conduct.  AV is Martindale- Hubble's highest rating. I have also been designated a "Leading Lawyer"  by the Leading Lawyer's network , another organization that rates lawyers based on peer reviews. I  also serve on the governing board of the Leading Lawyer's Network.
