I am beyond grateful for the help I received from Chicago Legal Exchange, especially Mr. Holcomb. This was my first experience working with a lawyer, and unfortunately, it was extremely disappointing. I did not personally choose him — I went through a law firm that assigns attorneys to your case. Although I saw concerning reviews, I decided to give him a chance and judge for myself. From the s...tart, communication was poor. We never discussed my overall goals for the case in detail, and he was late to court on two occasions. He rarely responded to calls or texts, often offering excuses when I tried to follow up. It felt like his primary focus was money, not the outcome of the case. I even referred a family member to him, who was charged significantly more than I was, only to lose the case in the end. I attempted to switch lawyers months ago, but the firm told me no one else was available to take over. Eventually, I had to begin handling parts of the case myself due to his lack of engagement or concern. If you’re considering legal representation, I strongly suggest investing your time and money into someone who is truly committed to their clients. Save yourself the stress.

Nathaniel was my attorney during two court cases consolidated for the duration of the last 6 months. Six months of the most stressful and scariest time of my life. Puzzled by the way Mr. Holcomb was handling his case, the law clerk felt the need to openly double check during the hearing if Mr. Holcolmb was an attorney. “You’re an attorney?” He asked in shock. BEWARE. Once a bad attorney fumbles a file, it can be forever tainted and near impossible to repai...r without filing a lawsuit against the attorney for malpractice. If Mr. Holcomb were even the slightest bit capable of admitting his deficiencies and willing to correct them, he may avoid so many one-star reviews. Notice how the five-star reviews are anonymous? Interesting. Yet, after hearing the details of our case, 3 other attorneys recommended that I file a complaint with ARDC. Mr. Holcomb: 1. Did not fully ask to review the case until the *Sunday afternoon before trial. 2. Presented Half-baked and unprepared representation. 3 - Did not notify us of upcoming court dates. 4. Did not notify his client that the hearing is in person and not on zoom. 5. Easily duped by opposing counsel to into failing to file a motion. 6. incapable of admitting responsibility. 7. Unaware of contract 101 requirements which were not communicated with his client, likely because he either did not know or did not read the contract. Either way, both reasons will be the client’s fault – see #6. The result: he will take your money without reading your file and lose because whatever he did not read you should have known from the beginning, so it’s your fault for hiring him in the first place. If only this level of ineptitude were fraudulent enough to warrant discipline from ARDC, but they do not police carelessness or incompetence. So, do explicit research before hiring your next attorney and avoid this one at all costs.
