I am a small business owner in Chicago and received a ticket for displaying a small chalkboard sign advertising what my business does. When I appeared in court I was told I needed a lawyer to represent me due to the fact that I am incorporated. Nowhere on the ticket did it indicate that I would need ...a lawyer - most of the business owners left with a revised court date which I found incredibly disruptive. Forcing hardworking business owners to take yet another day off of work, and leaving them with the task of finding a lawyer who would likely take advantage of the situation. I found Erik outside of the court room with a smile and he was so eager to help me. I didn't have to reschedule or take any further time off of work. He refiled my paper work and came in to the court room with me not more than ten minutes after we met. One of the charges was dropped (the city's error) and the original charge was the minimum fine. He made a potentially horrible situation pleasant with his polite manner, can do attitude and friendly smile. God forbid I ever need a lawyers services again, I will most certainly be calling him.
