Attorney ethics matter regardless of whose side.

Absolutely! Here's a more polished version of your message: --- A few years ago, my father received an official affidavit in child custody papers addressed to my husband signed by atty. Jordan Gillespie. Upon reading the affidavit, it contained egregious claims of an attack/assault, falsely nam...ing me as the perpetrator and accusing me of committing a crime against the mother in the child's presence. The allegations were clearly unfounded and easily disprovable with a few basic questions to her client, as the mother and I had never met or been in close proximity/sight of eachother. Additionally, the affidavit included a claim of neglect, alleging that I had failed to provide proper sleeping accommodations for the minor child. This was blatantly false, as there was documented evidence showing the child not only had her own bed but also her own room and toys. The mother had received photos confirming this. I am currently in search of a custody lawyer and am disheartened by the number of attorneys who delay court dates and show little regard for verifying the accuracy of claims. It's embarrassing and disheartening. While I respect the intention of fighting for the best interests of the child, it is tacky and careless for an attorney to endorse such baseless claims without proper investigation. To this day, these false allegations have tarnished my reputation within my in-laws' family and strained their relationship with my now 2-year-old son. This occurred despite extensive communication and sharing of photos of my stepdaughter in her room with my mother-in-law, who sided with the complainant. I strongly believe we need to hold attorneys accountable for their actions. If you are comfortable with lies and tarnishing someone's reputation with unverified claims, then perhaps you are content with the current state of legal ethics. However, I advocate for higher standards and integrity from attorneys on both sides.
