Horrible financially draining experience

I don’t normally post long reviews, but my experience working directly with Rebecca LaRocque was so costly and stressful that I feel obligated to warn others. I hired her for my divorce case, which should have been straightforward since my husband and I agreed on everything. Instead, my case dragged... on for a full year, and I spent nearly $20,000 with nothing completed and no meaningful progress to show for it. I ultimately had to hire a new attorney just to finally close out my file. The biggest issue was that my Marital Settlement Agreement and Allocation Judgment were never completed correctly, despite being billed for more than 15 hours of drafting, reviewing, revising, and case work. Important components I repeatedly requested, such as the child schedule, true-up language, and a provisional clause, were never properly added, even after months of corrections and follow-ups. I often received revised documents that looked nearly identical to earlier versions. Communication was consistently poor. I was not informed when a scheduled court date was canceled, and when I asked questions, responses were often vague or incomplete. I frequently had to send multiple follow-ups just to get basic answers, which made an already difficult situation even more stressful. Billing was another major concern. I was charged attorney rates for tasks that appeared to be purely clerical, such as adding a case number, saving documents, and emailing files. These were billed at $325 per hour, despite little to no real progress being made on my case. At the same time, there were repeated charges for “case reviews” and reviewing emails that did not move things forward. One of the most serious issues was the mishandling of my child support and SDU filing. The paperwork was submitted incorrectly, which delayed my child support payments. I had to point out the issue myself, and I was then billed for the time spent addressing a problem that resulted from that error. After a year of delays, unclear communication, and significant expense, I still did not have a finalized agreement. I ultimately had to hire a new attorney to complete what should have been done much earlier. Based on my experience, I would strongly encourage anyone considering working with Rebecca LaRocque to proceed with caution and to closely monitor billing, communication, and document progress. I wish I had known what to expect before investing so much time, money, and energy.
