Selwyn M. Skevin

Selwyn M. Skevin zealously represents his clients in all aspects of family law including emergency orders of protection, parentage matters, child support, fiercely contested custody battles and removal proceedings. He understands the challenges that a child will face throughout adolescence and the lasting effects when a child does not have both parents, but especially a father, in his or her life. Additionally, Mr. Skevin's business acumen and negotiation skills ensure that every marital estate is thoroughly investigated resulting in a fair and equitable division of assets for his clients.

Mr. Skevin earned his Juris Doctor at The John Marshall Law School in Chicago and is admitted to practice law in the State of Illinois and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Prior to law school, Mr. Skevin earned his Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies, with an emphasis on business, from Arizona State University. After college, he worked as a mortgage advisor in Arizona and Illinois, most notably with Morgan Stanley.

Before joining The Offices of Jeffery M. Leving, Ltd., Selwyn practiced in critical areas of civil litigation encompassing family law, business law, personal injury, foreclosure defense, probate, federal civil rights and general tort law.

Significant Victories:

- Successfully reunited a father with his three children after visitation had been withheld by the mother for over one year.

- Successfully obtained an emergency order of protection against an abusive spouse who threatened violence and possessed multiple handguns.

- Successfully negotiated a settlement agreement in a negligence case without having to file suit which saved the client thousands in potential fees and costs.

- Successfully defended a million dollar lawsuit resulting in his client not having to pay a single cent to the plaintiff.
