Matthew John Obiala

Matt Obiala’s practice focuses on commercial litigation, insurance counseling, transportation litigation, insurance and reinsurance coverage litigation, and defense of tort cases. He also counsels insurers concerning coverage issues related to general liability and first-party property coverage. Matt takes great satisfaction in supporting clients through challenging situations when they are most in need of sensible and confident legal guidance. He is experienced in leading clients through all stages of litigation, including pre-suit evaluations, all phases of written discovery and depositions, drafting dispositive motions, arguing motions in court, negotiating settlements, and preparing for trial.

Matt has successfully litigated complex insurance, product liability, and premises liability cases in state and federal courts throughout the United States. He has argued dispositive motions on behalf of corporations, insurers, building owners, and medical providers, and obtained summary judgment on behalf of his clients on numerous occasions.

Matt’s practice also covers all areas of aviation litigation, and he has represented domestic and foreign air carriers, aerospace product manufacturers, commercial airports, transportation companies, commercial pilots, and their insurers in connection with a broad spectrum of litigated matters. He also practices in alternative dispute resolution, including mediation and arbitrations, where he zealously seeks creative and favorable resolutions for clients.
