Originally educated at Yale University as an engineer, I have spent nearly 40 years using that knowledge to educate juries and judges about scientific and technical issues that are at the heart of substantial cases of civil litigation. The job is to both educate lay people about complex technical subjects, while at the same time persuasively helping them to understand the application of those facts to the applicable law so that they can see the case clearly and fairly for my client. Picking the best jury and knowing when to settle are things that have taken 40 years to learn well. As a trial lawyer, I am comfortable taking any case to verdict. But as a legal counselor, I know that it is my job to get the matter resolved in the most economic and positive way that my client defines. Although I've learned to do a lot of things in court well, ultimately, representing a client in litigation is NOT "about me". It is totally about what the client wants and needs.
