Mr. Ross helped me a lot by providing critical contacts information

I was searching on the internet for an attorney for a landlord-tenants legal matter I have. My tenants who lived in my apartment in breach of the lease (I rented my condo through a real estate agency to two graduate students from China and no pets while two other men and a cat and I don't know who e...lso moved in) for one year and completely vandalized my condo. It was as though a whole army of men lived in my condo and in addition to various total damage to items in my condo, the condo was so dirty and depreciated like a real estate agent who has been renting apartments for 32 years has never seen in her life. I couldn't absorb (and I shouldn't have to) the large expense of the damages and the double Herculean task and expense of having the condo cleaned, so I didn't refund their security deposit. Four days after they moved out, I gave them a list of the damages and my guess of how much each replacement/repair and cleaning will cost on the low end and high end of market prices. I didn't however, submit the receipts to them within 30 days, because I didn't quite have everything done because of the enormout scope of the work to be done, the complexity of it (damaged kitchen cabinet doors, or bathroom contertop), and my health status - I have cardiomyopathy/CHF which means my eart doesn't contract as strongly as normal which manifests itself by me having much less energy than normal and actually being tired most of the time and I also have a back prblem after I fell down which was causing me a lot of pain and was diagnosed as lystesis at L4-L5 - recently I got an intervertbral shot under x-rays of an inflammatory & pain killer. Then I got a letter form the attorney of the tenants that they are suing me for violations of various sections of the Chicago RLTO ordinance Some of the allegtions they claim are 100% eithe untrue or incorrect, even so the lawyer marked the sample lawsuit "Verified". I am low income and I can't affort to hire a lawyer at the prices quoted to me by the one or two attorneys willing to take my case. Mr. Ross was very empathetic, and in contrast to the other attorneys who only told me that the Chicago RLTO law is enforced literally, and my disabling status of health is asking for special treatment, and they can't take a case which they will not win, gave me contact information to agencies which could help me like the Chicago Valunteer Legal Services Foundation and Loyola Law School's Justice for Health Foundation. I believe that Mr. Ross is a very empathetic, responsive, and willing to help attorney.

Professional misconduct

This lawyer was disciplined by a state licensing authority in 1998.

Further suspension stayed issued in IL, 1998

updated on 08/29/2013

Further suspension stayed means the attorney has been suspended, but that the suspension is placed on hold (and ultimately removed) if the attorney complies with certain requirements. Typically the requirements are included in a probation term the lawyer has been given at the same time.

Probation issued in IL, 1998

updated on 01/05/2013

Probation means an attorney did something wrong but may still practice law. The Court monitors the lawyer's activities for a period of time in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior.

Steven’s comment:

“Completed three month probation in 1998. Attended four session Professionalism Seminar conducted by the Illinois Professionalism Seminar in 1998.No disciplinary problems since.”

Suspension followed by probation issued in IL, 1998

updated on 04/16/2013

This type of suspension means an attorney lost his or her license to practice law for a period of time. When the attorney returns to practice the State monitors the his or her activities for a period of time.

Steven’s comment:

“License reinstated in December 1998.”
