As of June, 2013, Rich Gleason resigned from the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office in Chicago, Illinois to launch a new law firm, O’Mara, Gleason, & O’Callaghan, LLC, where he is a managing partner. The firm focuses on business law and litigation.
Rich specializes in litigation, and is a fluent Spanish speaker. Rich's entire career as a prosecutor was spent in courtrooms. Rich initially worked to hold fathers accountable for their financial obligations to their children, and later was promoted to the Domestic Violence Division, where he was an outspoken advocate on behalf of abused women and children. Rich later went on to the Felony Trial Division. In eight years as an Assistant State's Attorney, Rich tried hundreds of motions and trials, including numerous jury trials. Rich handled many cases involving Spanish-only speaking victims and witnesses.
Rich earned his law degree from Northern Illinois University, and his BA from the University of Iowa, where he double majored in History and Spanish and graduated in 3 ½ years. Rich put himself through law school working as a graduate assistant in the NIU Center for Latino and Latin American Studies, and was an officer in the NIU College of Law Latino Law Student Association.
