DEFENDANT BEWARE * I hired Josh to represent me on a criminal case in western Illinois. I gave him an $11,000 retainer with the understanding that I wanted to take my case to trial. My case was being held 3 -1/2 hours away and he was well aware of this upon agreeing to take the case and my money.... He was always too busy when he’d come for court to sit down with me and discuss my case, but always had time to ask for more money because of the time it took him to travel for my court appearances and how problematic it was for him. I found out why a few court dates in when he tried to present me with a “good deal”, he was trying to secure a negotiated plea with the states attorney without my knowledge and presented it to me in open court and expected me to sign it, when I declined this “good deal” (that was an absolutely horrible plea) he motioned to withdraw from my case. He didn’t file any motions on my behalf, or do anything outside of a couple of emails and a phone call with the prosecutor,nothing to justify the amount of money he took from me. He left me in an even worse position than when I started. I would strongly recommend anyone considering Joshua B. Adam’s for representation to look elsewhere so they don’t end up screwed over like me.
