Miranda R. Crowell

Miranda Crowell is committed to assisting healthcare companies and professionals navigate complex regulatory and legal issues. Her goal is to help clients with their business endeavors so they can return to the practice of medicine. In working toward this goal, Miranda has helped clients structure new healthcare ventures, advised on compliance with fraud and abuse laws, and reviewed legislative trends in the healthcare field.

As an illustration, Miranda has advised a hospital client on how to structure a management service organization, reviewed licensure requirements for free-standing emergency rooms in multiple states, and ensured compliance with patient privacy and security laws. She has drafted various service agreements, medical consent forms, billing policies, and employee handbooks.

Miranda completed a dual-degree program where she received a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Juris Doctor from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law. During her time as a law student, Miranda was a member of the Moot Court Honor Society where she competed on evidentiary- and healthcare- related topics.

Prior to working at The Uma Law Group, Miranda interned in the General Counsel’s Office at the American Medical Association, served as a research assistant at the Institute of Science, Law, and Technology, and worked as a law and policy intern at the Chicago Department of Public Health.
