Ms. Fowler was tripped by the edging on a platform manufactured by HQ Enterprises and placed within Westfield's mall. She had $150,000 in medical bills. The defense contested negligence and causation ... of the medical treatment. Defendant offered to settle for $50,000. The defense attorneys did a very good job and were professional throughout the proceedings.
OUTCOME: We prevailed in the Appellate Court.
After reading a newspaper article describing how most Illinois Freedom of Information Act requests were being arbitrarily denied and learning that a local sheriff had written a memo about me, I decided ... to file a FOIA request for the memo. Not surprisingly it was immediately denied. Surprisingly, a trial court rubber stamped the denial. Fortunately the Appellate Court, in a published opinion, upheld the law and ordered the memo to be turned over to me.
