I hired this "attorney" under the premise she was going to assist with a tenant-landlord issue. Her start-up fee was $625.00 (which I paid upfront) and she stated that her fee was $450.00 hourly for any additional work thereafter. She "drafted" a dispute letter, which I discovered later, was never su...bmitted. The excuse was that I didn't review and reply back to her email about the dispute letter, which I actually did the following day she emailed me the letter. After five days of not hearing anything from her office, I attempted to follow-up with the status of the letter, which I was informed that I'd have to reply again in the email, and if I needed to talk with her, that I'd have to set up and appointment and that "ALL CALLS WOULD BE BILLABLE?! I WOULD BE BILLED BY MY ATTORNEY FOR REQUESTING TO TALK TO HER?! WHAT?! I asked for a refund and I was informed that I would not be refunded, because the letter that was never sent was already drafted! THE LETTER THAT WAS NEVER SENT COST ME $625.00!!! Do not do business with her or her office. You have been warned.

I hired Maudia Washington to represent me in a security deposit dispute. I wish I had read Shana’s review on AVVO. It would have saved me a ton of time and money. Maudia Washington aka Maudia Norman Washington represented me for less than 6 months and I paid her over $7k. I fired her because she l...ied when sent me an email attaching an unsigned order by the judge. The bill which started at $257.50 and revised to $370 then to $677 was finally revised to $1264.35, all dated 29 February. Washington then sued me for $1264.35 in a complaint that she got my name wrong as the defendant, and gave the reason that she was hired to represent me as a defendant “in an eviction action”. She didn’t even know why I had hired her, after paying her over $7K! I owned the house and certainly wasn’t evicted. We went to arbitration and she lost. She then filed an appeal and lost again in 2025. To add insult to injury, she turned over her bill of $1264.35 inflated to almost $3k to a collection agency. Don’t just take my word about Maudia Washington’s representation, check out the sanctions in Kane County, IL. Beware of hiring Maudia Washington, aka Maudia Norman Washington. In my opinion she doesn’t even deserve my 1 star.

After a week, the eviction was lifted and I was able to find a better place to live, but I was still apprehensive because I had received the eviction letter and she had performed a magic trick. She is an excellent lawyer that works quickly and efficiently, thus I will recommend her to everyone. I wil...l always have her on my phone.
