Louis J. Aurichio

Lou is an attorney with more than 20 years of experience litigating complex business disputes.  His experience includes guiding clients’ senior management through thirteen completed trials, seven as First Chair.  Lou has also briefed and argued multiple appeals in federal and state courts.  He is currently an equity partner at Butler, Rubin, Saltarelli & Boyd in Chicago, Illinois.  Lou’s credentials include being named as a leader in business litigation by Illinois Super Lawyers in 2015.

At Butler Rubin, Lou handles complex commercial litigation and arbitration, including disputes involving insurance and reinsurance, breach of executive compensation contract, real estate, trade secrets and legal malpractice.  In addition to spearheading legal strategy, motion practice, discovery and trial preparation, his duties include: preparing fact and expert witnesses to testify; negotiating discovery dispute resolutions and out-of-court settlements; and managing client relationships.  Lou has published a number of articles on issues concerning litigation and arbitration, many of which are posted on Butler Rubin’s website.

Prior to joining Butler Rubin, Lou served as a Law Clerk to U.S. District Court Judge James B. Zagel in the Northern District of Illinois.  Before his clerkship, Lou was selected to participate in the Attorney General’s Honors Program, where he served as a trial attorney litigating federal False Claims Act cases.  In that capacity, Lou coordinated civil fraud investigations with federal agency officials, drafted pleadings and briefs, conducted fact and expert discovery, argued motions, and negotiated False Claims Act settlements.
