Representing thugs in Chiraq and enabling them to offend repeatedly

How does one look at themselves in mirror when they allow criminals to bail and hurt or kill others?? Not sure how anyone can choose this career/ life

Thuglic Defender

Emily Motin, while representing Darick Benson, the carjacker who robbed and shot at a ride share driver in Chicago in Aug 2023, argued during the bail hearing that her client should not be held without bail as there was not enough evidence to tie him to the alleged crime. Judge Charles Beach denied ...Motin's request, considering Benson was already on probation for carjacking at the time of the incident - and the victim returned fire and shot Benson in the leg - AND he left his cell phone at the scene ofnthe crime. Motin is nothing more than an apologist for violent criminals and a disgrace to the legal profession.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
