Emily A. Herbick

Emily A. Herbick graduated with the highest honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a B.S. in News-Editorial Journalism. Emily graduated from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2015. During law school, she was a member of the Moot Court Honor Society where she won the best brief award and finished as a semi-finalist in the National Health Law Moot Court Competition. She was awarded the CALI Award for Highest Grade in Legal Writing I, Legal Writing II, and Trial Advocacy I. She served as an extern to Justice Terrence Lavin in the First District Appellate Court of Illinois and worked as a law clerk for Keith A. Hebeisen at Clifford Law Offices, P.C. focusing on medical malpractice litigation.

After law school, Emily worked as an attorney at a liability law firm in Chicago focusing on personal injury and insurance defense litigation. Emily then followed her passion for helping others and became a plaintiff’s attorney concentrating in medical malpractice litigation at another law firm in Chicago. During her tenure, Emily successfully argued and won before the Illinois Supreme Court in Dameron v. Mercy Hosp. & Medical Ctr., Case No. 125219. The Illinois Supreme Court resolved a matter of first impression in favor of the plaintiff on the issue of whether a disclosed Rule 213(f)(3) witness can be re-designated as a Rule 201(b)(3) consultant whose work product is privileged absent exceptional circumstances.

Emily is honored to rejoin the medical malpractice team at Clifford Law Offices, P.C. Emily is passionate about serving others and helping them receive the justice they deserve. Emily brings her talent for legal writing and oral argument as well as her experience in complex medical malpractice litigation to the firm.

Emily is a member of the Chicago Bar Association and Illinois Bar Association. She is licensed to practice in the State of Illinois and the Northern District of Illinois.
