I met Chris at a networking event a few years ago. At the time I was developing a new startup focused on video game publishing. It was still an idea at the time, but I had every intention to move forward with it. I met with various lawyers focused on startups and whenever I mentioned that my startup ...was about video games, they would say that’s cool and sort of walk away or tell me that’s not one of their areas of expertise. Or when finally one lawyer is willing to listen, they simply pitch me a very generic solution. Then I met Chris, though a newly minted attorney at the time. He demonstrated interest and some personal knowledge of the gaming space as a consumer. So I asked Chris if he could assist me with setting up my new video game publishing startup. He didn’t say yes right away, he first wanted to get a sense of how serious of an entrepreneur I was. Sure he could have taken my money, set me up a company and walked away. However, he wanted to make sure success was mutual and I appreciated that. We then entered formal agreements and not only did Chris help me establish my new startup, but he also provided legal guidance on my first published mobile game which was released on the Apple app store in 2015. I am currently working on a new game set to release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Lawyers are usually found through word of mouth or a family/friend referral. I hope my short review, provides a similar confidence in giving Chris a try. As my subject line states, he’s honest and up front and will tell you what you need to know and not what you just want to hear. He’s focused on you the client and will not mix you up for client X, Y, Z. He is quality driven, and will go the extra mile to ensure success and client fulfillment. Lastly, if there is something he just doesn’t have the expertise in – he will go out of his way to provide you a referral to someone who can.
