Arnold Gary Kaplan

We hired Mr Kaplan after we were served with foreclosure papers. He secured a retainer of $1500 up front. We gave him a box of papers and asked us to do a detailed list of events /phone calls with our horrible mortgage company over the past year. We did. Mr. Kaplan, after we paid, informed us that th...ere was nothing to really do at that point, that it would just speed up the foreclosure process. He did not even look at the information we provided. He had said he would be available if I had any questions, but did not return phone calls or appear to review my information. He did call after a long delay, and apologized and offered to do my closing for free. (as we had decided to sell our house). He offered to continue to represent me for $500/month. We decided to go a different route and have been very pleased. Our current attorney has been working with the mortgage company through the whole process and has helped alleviate a lot of the stress during this process. All I can say is that it is not right to exploit people who are at a very low time in their life. If you have too much business to do them justice, you should not promise that you can in order to obtain a retainer.
