You can hire a lawyer in your state and see if the lawyer thinks you have a case. You can find one in the attorney tab on this site.
You should ask your employer to pay for a lawyer for you to get advice on this sort of thing. And you should get extra money for using your house...

That would be up to the unemployment office but generally No would be the answer. Quitting means you still have the job and left it.

It does sound shady. It may or may not be legitimate. You can ask your boss about it first, if you don't like the answer report to DOL.
