Beware

I came to Nicole as a referral from a domestic abuse advocate. I had already been divorced a few years and was terrified of going BACK into court with my ex. But I felt I had been given no choice. My ex did not agree with a medical diagnosis and treatment for our son. A condition my son had since bir...th and the same doctors since birth. I thought that this would be a no -brainer. I met with Nicole and was assured that this would be something that she could handle. Due to my very limited income, I was told that I would need to do a lot of the LEG WORK myself to keep the cost down. I did just that. I spent 3 months collecting documents, and following the direction of NICOLES ASSISTANT! Who happened to be a god send. I will just call her M. M was in court with me, answering calls and walking me through this legal mine field. As we got deeper into the battle I heard less and less from Nicole. At one point my son needed a medical procedure that 4 doctors agreed on and wrote letters on behalf of. M had spoken with ex's attorney and it was agreed that my son could have the procedure. I urged M to have it written into a court order. I was shocked that I had to come up with this idea. M was sweet but very inexperienced. Court order written. Day of procedure comes. Ex shows up at hospital and demands that the procedure is stopped. I call M. She never told me to bring the court order. So my son was pulled out of the medical procedure still under anesthesia. Nothing was done to punish or hold him accountable. Nicole never explained how or why this was allowed. At that point I didn't know who to be more angry with, my ex or Nicole. After all I was not paying my ex with the misguided belief that he was going to protect my son. I was paying Nicole. Nicole barely participated in my case. M was there at every turn. I did start to receive calls from Nicole when the retainer ran low. Now Nicole was front and center. As a matter of fact, Nicole only came to two court appearances. The first one and the one where she left my case because I stopped paying her. There were to many missteps, unreturned calls, emails and misinformation. Not to mention the fact that she took a very stressful situation and made it much worse. She didn't answer questions. I constantly had to chase down answers and when I needed her to explain or clarify, she became angry and condescending. This women is not on anyone's side except her own. I highly recommend you go pro se before you consider hiring NICOLE L. CENTRACCHIO.

As you accurately state, you specifically asked to keep costs down due to finances. For that reason, we asked you to do “leg work,” solely in the form of producing organized and complete documents, and having a capable associate attorney with a lower hourly rate was the perfect solution. Our other clients in similar situations are profusely grateful that we work with them and problem solve, instead of denying them access to justice. You were extremely pleased at the time, as when it became necessary to part ways you begged us to stay in the case. Even afterwards you apologized for your behavior and pleaded with us to again file our appearance on your behalf. Now, over seven months later, you write this review, curiously and improperly blaming us for some reason for what happened during surgery in a hospital, when we were the ones who got an attorney appointed to represent your children’s interests. Further, you still owe us a significant sum of money for which we have not instituted a collection action. In conclusion, we remain proud of the excellent services we provided for you and reaffirm our well-known record and reputation of going to extraordinary lengths for victims of domestic violence.

Happy For Others, But Not So Much on this Atty

This lawyer pretty much failed me and my child in every respect. Did not seek financials on my ex though he failed to provide them for months, paid no attention to written facts and kept track of no details, was combative and rude in most consultations, and told me to do a lot of my own legal work wh...ile charging me large sums monthly. I wasted over $10,000 and six months while this lawyer did nothing to represent me or bring the divorce to a close, despite the fact that she knew circumstances were bad and assets were not large. And that I was solely responsible for a very young child. She basically tried to get me to sign a terrible settlement proposal and became nearly hysterical when I said I would not give up my home or give my abusive ex (who is convicted of Battery) more parenting time and joint custodial decision making. Worst decision I ever made to take a friend of a friend's recommendation. Thanks to this lawyer's lack of skill and respect for her clients, my husband gutted our 401K while she did nothing about it and dragged out the proceedings for over a year thinking I would run out of money and he could win by default. Please look elsewhere, especially if you have children and have experienced real criminal or other problems with the spouse you are divorcing. Terrible experience! Run...

THE BEST

I thought that writing a review of my attorney Nicole Centracchio would be easy be but it isn't. THERE ARE TOO MANY WORDS TO DESCRIBE HER! Nicole is the epitome of a servant who works very diligently to ensure that her clients are knowledgeable, comfortable, and suited with the appropriate legal armo...r to take on any divorce and custody situation. I was referred to Nicole in September of 2013. I was so desperate to find someone who would listen to my story without judgement. After calling her office, we scheduled a meeting to discuss the issues in my divorce/custody case. We soon discovered that my case was one of a kind. I immediately felt comfortable with Nicole’s professionalism and confidence that we would come out victorious one way or another. That day I left her office feeling as if a burden had been lifted from me and with her help I would fly to victory. Not to mention that together we would make history as we unveiled a twist to an INTERNATIONAL ISSUE. For four years, Nicole worked to ensure that the best interest of my son was top priority. She was very efficient with all communications and made sure that my questions were answered. I literally put my life in Nicole’s hand and watched her gently guide me through the most emotional phase of my life. Nicole’s confidence was warmth to my chill, and I DID NOT BREAK. I AM SO GRATEFUL for your humble servanthood, compassion, dedications, and patience. March 23rd will forever be a monumental day of VICTORY for me. I believe that God comes in many forms and He sends his angels to serve………….servant well done!

Experienced, Efficient, Compassionate - simply the best!

Words can't begin to describe how Nicole has impacted my (and my son's!) life. Not only does she have all of the skills and qualities you typically want in an attorney -- expertise, efficiency, honesty, compassion -- but she brought something that no one else seemed to get. Something I tried to expla...in to other attorneys, but either they didn't get it or took advantage of it.

When you are divorcing a certain type of person, one of their most powerful tactics can be to abuse via the legal system. Endless discussions, delays, negotiations, costing thousands of dollars per month for years, but never bearing fruit. Aside from the financial pain, the emotional and psychological pain of constantly being in court, constantly updating paperwork, missed work, providing the same info over and over and over, knowing nothing good was going to happen and thinking I would never get divorced and wondering why my attorneys kept allowing this, and how could this happen in this country? Took me 4 years to get divorced!! One attorney actually billed me over $100,000 in one year, and I am not a wealthy person. He kept saying "you still have your 401k to use!".

The others did not seem as callously greedy, but didn't understand that negotiations with this person were fruitless, no matter how I tried to explain it. Day after day after day ridiculous expensive negotiations about where to pick up the child that day, etc. Nothing ever bore fruit, it was just ridiculous, costly daily squabbles via lawyers that I couldn't escape!

I actually had several attorneys, don't even want to say how many, but so many don't understand, care, or know how to handle this type of opponent who use the legal system to abuse. Or they take advantage of it to line their pockets.

Most of all no one seemed to understand how scared I was for both my son and myself, and that the wrong move on an attorney's part could seriously jeopardize both of us. They did not take this seriously, but Nicole did and was empathetic and careful in how she handled things, understanding if I was too afraid to pursue this or that and heeding my requests.

When I decided to try yet another attorney and found Nicole, I begged her to be wary of the delay tactics that my ex (who was getting discounted legal service due to sudden income deficit syndrome) used to torture me. Of course she said no problem, they all do. But lo and behold this amazing woman GOT IT and stuck to it! Off the bat she told the other attorney, negotiations haven't worked for years, put it in writing and we'll handle it in court. !!!! Of course most of the time the other party didn't put it in writing and bring it to court, knowing they wouldn't fare well.

And when we did land in court a few times Nicole's preparation and skill were beyond impressive. I cried in court that first time with her, partly due to fear of ex, but honestly partly joy that this woman was representing me so well. After all these years, I had someone who had my back. As I sat down in the courtroom afterward, a woman leaned over and asked "who IS that? she is amazing!". And Nicole is.

She is extremely efficient, detailed, and made sure things happened as she said they would. She remembered details I told her, she was organized. Her co-workers and staff are compassionate and also very capable.

And she was unflappable in her kindness. No matter how upset I got, stressed, she was supportive and positive and knew how to address my concerns. Honestly, this is a woman you would love to hang out with in your spare time, she's sweet and funny and kind.

I feel this all sounds quite sappy, but after years and years and years of legal torture and abuse, I almost can't believe I have such an amazing attorney now, and hope that others in the same situation as I was find this amazing attorney and experience the difference she'll make in your life.
