I first consulted with Josh Karmel to represent me in a case against Verizon. He turned the case over to his then partner, who was arrogant, condescending, and borderline verbally abusive. He treated being asked questions as an affront to his expertise. As a result, I terminated my agreement with the...m. Several months later in a related case, I went back to see attorney Karmel to discuss mediation. I didn't have a problem with him the first time. He said that he would help me. But he turned out to be just as difficult as his former partner. He he did not like being asked questions about the case and would not copy me on communication even though that was my main request in hiring him. In November 2018, he asked me to send him an email with my demand. I did with the understanding that he would prepare and file a formal demand to Verizon through the EEOC. He did not schedule anything for any of the mediation dates and I had to keep calling for updates on the case. He would tell me that he was waiting to hear back from the mediator or that he felt that my demand was too high. I followed up with him one day and he told me that the case was no longer in mediation and had returned to the investigation department. When the EEOC dismissed my case with a 90-Day right to sue, I requested my case file, including a copy of the demand that he had prepared on my behalf. Attorney Karmel still cannot provide the document. He said that he 'may have verbalized the demand to the EEOC mediator. Absolute nightmare. I would never work with him or refer anyone to him again.

I hired Josh as my lawyer a few years ago. Never again. He was rude, passive aggressive, never gave me any answers to any questions. Any time I ever asked a question, he acted “inconvenienced” that I even asked. If I didn’t contact him, and constantly nag him for answers, he wouldn’t reach out. He to...ld me upfront what he charged and then tried taking more from me in the end. I do not recommend him!!

My former employer contested and appealed my eligibility for unemployment benefits. Because of Josh's knowledge of Illinois employment law, his vast experience and strong litigation acumen, I was able to keep my unemployment benefits. I would not hesitate recommending Josh and would use him aga...in, should the need arise.
