Alan R. Kurash

I was referred to Al Kurash by other clients in my alcohol treatment class that had success with him in getting their license back. I've worked with numerous attorneys, for both personal matters and for business, and Al Kurash stands out among the best as one who makes you feel like a real person an...d not just a dollar sign. Talking to Al is like talking to your best friend or a trusted family member. He will tell you how it is, what to expect -- and although some things you may not want to hear, he's not going to blow smoke up your behind and give you unrealistic expectations. He is good at what he does, and the end result was a successful and full reinstatement of my revoked license. In case you are not familiar with the process, a revoked license is not the same as a suspension. You do not automatically get it back after a year (or 3 or 5 or however long you are sanctioned). In order to get your license back you must prove that you will not be a danger to the public if you drive again. You will have a very hard time proving that on your own or with an attorney that does not have specific experience at reinstatement hearings. The hearing process is an adversarial proceeding - basically meaning you are guilty until proven innocent (or rather, you are deemed a danger to the public until you can prove that you aren't). The hearing officers' and the state prosecutors' job is literally to find reasons to deny your license. What you say in front of the hearing officer can and will be used against you, and will become a part of the permanent record at future hearings. Unlike a criminal case -- where your attorney does all the talking -- at a Secretary of State hearing, YOU do all the talking, and you do not want to say the wrong thing or you will not get your license. That is where Al Kurash comes in, and what he and his associates do well. As a former Secretary of State prosecutor, Al has been on the other side of the table. Al knows the rubrics, the rules, what the State needs to see and hear, and what you need to say and do. Al will rehearse and do mock hearings with you so that you know what to expect, and Al will not let you go in front of a hearing officer if he does not think you are fully prepared to do it properly. Something like 95% of applicants are denied their license on their first try. (I don't remember where I saw that number). What I do know, is that with Al's help, I got a restricted permit to drive after my first hearing (which seems to be the norm), and full reinstatement at my 2nd hearing. I couldn't have asked for any better results. In my opinion, Al Kurash and his team are the most experienced and best choice to help you get your license back.
