William Lloyd Hotopp

This attorney collected $1500 to set up our trust which included placing both of our properties in the trust. He has failed to get one of our properties in the trust. I have a text from him saying I know there is one more deed, and rather than keeping his word he suggested we could get another atto...rney. He has been paid to do the work. He doesn't answer phone calls or emails.

I retained William Hotopp as my attorney in February 2018 to assist me with a back child support issue. After 16 months of delay after delay, I was informed that Mr. Hotopp was withdrawing from my case, stating that I was being uncooperative. Without providing an explanation for how I was being uncoo...perative, I am out my retainer and forced to start my case over again with another attorney. I consistently received bad customer service from the office manager, who is rude on the phone and in the emails she bothers to respond to. I was rarely able to get William on the phone at all and had to schedule phone conferences weeks out. He doesn't respond to the emails that are sent. Additionally, I was advised to file a petition that turns out has no basis in law and was a waste of time and money. I have since retained a new lawyer who was able to accomplish more in a week than William had the entire 16 months I was working with him. This office is highly unprofessional and didn't produce results after an extended period of time. I do not recommend using them for any legal matter whatsoever.

I hired William Hotopp to represent me on the recommendation of Mutual Ground. Almost immediately, he became impossible to reach. He would not answer phone calls or return them nor would he respond to emails. He originally explained to me what he would do and how he would handle my case, and he did n...one of those things, which I could not get an explanation for. There is absolutely NO communication between him and his office girl. He refused to let me come into his office to discuss my case with him. Whenever I had a question, simple or not, I was required to schedule a phone conference that was made 7 to 10 days later. I was "allowed" to have two phone conferences with him in 4 months. Once he called late and then had to get off the phone before my time was up so that he wouldn't be late for his next call and the second time he called 5 hours early because that's when he had time to talk to me. Once, I emailed him (thinking it would be an easier way to reach him) and several days later I received a response from his secretary saying that he gets "70+ emails a day" and that if I wanted a response I should have called the office, which I did and had to schedule a phone conference a week later. Once, I called for my phone conference and was told by the secretary that I could not speak to him because I owed money, which ultimately, I didn't. They just hadn't applied my payment. So after waiting a week for my phone call, I had to reschedule it for another week away. I have never received a bill from them, yet they keep saying I owe money. I have called several times to find out what I owe and have asked for a current bill and have yet to receive one. In four months! I would suggest that if you want to hire Bill Hotopp, that you get everything in writing. He is not true to his word and I have no clue what he is billing me for. He doesn't communicate. And definitely find out when you will be able to reach him if you need to. Good Luck!
