Our story is very much the same as Lisa and Julies reviews – THINK TWICE BEFORE HIRING THIS ATTORNEY. We retained William Hotopp to assist us. The first six weeks seemed okay, though he was hard to reach and very rarely replied without sending multiple emails and leaving voicemails. Nothing he sai...d in those first few weeks about what would happen actually happened. After months of delays and rare communication, we sent almost daily requests for information just trying to get a reply. On the rare occasion we did get one it was short, rude and never really answered the questions. I think we put in more man hours then he did. We were routinely asked for information we had already supplied. After we told him of our displeasure, we received an extremely unprofessional email and then an email stating he is terminating his representation with no explanation. We are out our retainer and have zip to show for it. We consistently received bad customer service from the office lady She was extremely unprofessional, so I am guessing when we did get the very abrupt rude replies, they were from her vs. William. We rarely were able to talk to William and had to schedule phone conferences weeks out. Then when we did call, he was usually on another call and we had to wait or reschedule. He or the office lady respond to about 1 out of every 10 emails if you’re lucky. We were told to pay money to the state and it turns out that was just money wasted that did not accomplish anything. AGAIN - THINK TWICE BEFORE HIRING THIS ATTORNEY.

I retained William Hotopp as my attorney in February 2018 to assist me with a back child support issue. After 16 months of delay after delay, I was informed that Mr. Hotopp was withdrawing from my case, stating that I was being uncooperative. Without providing an explanation for how I was being uncoo...perative, I am out my retainer and forced to start my case over again with another attorney. I consistently received bad customer service from the office manager, who is rude on the phone and in the emails she bothers to respond to. I was rarely able to get William on the phone at all and had to schedule phone conferences weeks out. He doesn't respond to the emails that are sent. Additionally, I was advised to file a petition that turns out has no basis in law and was a waste of time and money. I have since retained a new lawyer who was able to accomplish more in a week than William had the entire 16 months I was working with him. This office is highly unprofessional and didn't produce results after an extended period of time. I do not recommend using them for any legal matter whatsoever.

I recently hired Bill to represent me in a very complicated and messy contested probate situation that involved not only a financial estate but also the guardianship of a disabled parent. This matter evolved into a guardianship/custody situation over an infant that ended up going to trial. Bill's pre...paration and actions in court were great. Even courtroom regulars like social workers, CASA, a DCFS investigator, and other lawyers commented on how well Bill Hotopp handled the case, despite . I also hired Bill to go after some individuals and companies who illegally and/or unethically financially exploited my disabled mother for large sums of money. One person has already gone to jail and was convicted on felony charges as a result. Other individuals and companies are now in the process of making amends. We can't get all the money back, but we are starting to see some results. Prior to all this I have hired Bill Hotopp to handle numerous personal and business matters. All of them have resulted in successful outcomes, most did not go to trial. As a Lawyer Bill is knowledgeable, methodical, thorough and has a passion for helping his clients. I have worked with dozens attorneys in my business and consulting career. Whenever it is my own money going to pay for a lawyer, and I have a choice, I have hired Bill Hotopp. For me Bill has successfully handled the following sort of cases: Family (Divorce, custody, etc.) Business Probate Trust Bill stands out among attorneys as he is genuinely more concerned about achieving a good outcome for his clients rather than racking up bilable hours.
