Matthew John King

Hired Mr. King to handle my divorce and found him to be unorganized and unprofessional. He would always make remarks about being forgetful and grateful to his part time legal assistant for keeping him somewhat organized. It wasn’t till my case really started going through the courts I noticed his lac...kadaisical handling of it. He made poor decisions on my behalf before the judge without even consulting me prior and the final straw was his careless neglect of notifying me of an important meeting between the GAL and former spouse to discuss custody. I’m still seething that he did not tell me of this prearranged meeting that I missed because of him. The best thing I did was remove Mr. King from my case. It was under my new lawyer that I discovered just how careless his work was. To this day I don’t know who he was working for because it wasn’t me. Please think twice before hiring Mr. King, he presents himself as some who doesn’t really know what he’s doing.

I wouldn't recommend Mr. King to anyone. He never met with me in person but only talked to me on the phone which is weird. He filed my case in the wrong court and once sent me a wrong document to sign because as he said it many times "would lose his head had it not been attached." My case was pretty ...amicable from the start, and we could have settled in a reasonable time, but I have a feeling Mr. King was stringing me along to get more money out of me. He went to court multiple times and never called me to update me on what was going on. It seems like he never did anything to be proactive until I picked up the phone and talked to him. Then you would get charged for the phone call as well for reminding him to do something that he should have known he had to do.

I hired Matthew King for what I hoped would be a short case of father trying to re-open entire parenting agreement. 2 years later it finally settled after what turned into a contentious battle with an unrealistic opposing side. Needless to say Mr King was amazing the entire time! So grateful I found ...him on a whim and gave him a shot. He holds his composure constantly under pressure and in the end it always did us well. Judge and GAL seemed to respect him a lot as opposed to other attorneys I witnessed. He genuinely cared about the case and child involved. Always available. Could call or meet him anytime needed! Always remembered the facts over the years and used them very wisely. One step ahead of opposing side all the time. Smart guy, doesn’t put on ‘the show’, consults you the entire time on smart decisions so he’s not just running up a bill. I’ve referred multiple people to Matthew since and everyone has been so grateful to find him. You won’t go wrong with this attorney!

Mr. King and his associates provided legal council for my divorce last year. During my initial consultation with Mr. King, I knew that this attorney would represent my needs and the needs of my young children well. Mr. King is responsive, professional, and reasonable. I never got the sense that he... was only in this for billable hours. He has a well developed law acqumen with the ability to connect with his clients. I plan to retain Mr. King for any future family law issues I may incounter (hopefully none).

I had initiated a divorce with a firm that I had previous dealings with. My attorney was suddenly and unexpectedly dismissed by the firm shortly after filing. I was not satisfied with the choice of the replacement attorney in that firm and contacted the dismissed attorney who recommended Matt King.... So I had a consultation with him and decided to hire him. I did not regret it. When Matt accepted the information given to my previous attorney, he took over the case with a minimum of transition time. The best thing about Matt was the fact that he kept me in the loop at all times and never failed to return a call or email in a timely manner. He took the time to go over the likely scenarios of any action taken by opposing counsel or those that could be caused by my own decisions. Documents were passed on to me promptly and we were able to conduct our business with minimal travel to his office. In fact, I only had to appear in court for the final divorce proceeding although I was free to attend all the court dates if I chose. Matt guided me through the separation with a knowledge of what my spouse could or couldn't demand with regards to splitting costs and rights to access of the marital home. Given the parameters of my desires for the property settlement, Matt accomplished the goals that were set. I found Matt to be open and friendly, a down-to-earth guy who didn't stand on ceremony and wasn't afraid to be seen in jeans. God forbid I should marry and divorce again, but Matt is the guy I would go back to.
