Jay Timothy O'Brien

This guy is a DIVORCE lawyer. He sold me out on my 3rd court date. Tried to send me to jail for a year. Didn’t even know where I worked or anything about me. $2500 down the drain. this guy didn’t contest any evidence. Filed no motions. NOTHING. just had a 402 conference and sold me out. But his ot...her client who got caught drunk with cocaine and wearing bulletproof vest with guns got probation. Any attorney I talked to said u NEVER have a 402 with 2 peoples cases at the same time. This lawyer is not even known in the markham courthouse. Acts like he has juice with people. Nobody knows this guy. My new lawyer which is a TOP KNOWN LAWYER in cook county has been fighting for me 3 years now .... has left no stone unturned. Never sold me out and can call the judge ahead if it’s something to be asked. My new lawyer comes out the back with the courthouse staff cause he knows everybody there. Lol. He works for ME !!!! Jay Obrian is a will county divorce lawyer. He needs to stay in will county playing golf .... he is not a criminal lawyer. He will not fight for u. He only wants the money ... and had the nerve to send me letter once i FIRED him to say me going to jail is inevitable. Really. I’m still OUT !!!!!!! Because my lawyer is fighting. And won’t stop till the last trick is done. I don’t even have a criminal record but jay Obrian sold me out. what a JOKE !!!!!! I rather use a public defender than him. He should refund me my money ... and has the nerve to send his son in his place the days he can’t make it. at my bond hearing they said absolutely nothing to help. nothing. !!!!! Stay away from this guy and his office

I was recommended to Jay from a previous client. I was told he's a tad expensive but worth it. From my first meeting with Jay I was hooked. He listened to everything I was saying. I knew in my heart he genuinely cared for me and was definitely going to fight for me and fight hard. I explained how... sneaky and nasty my ex was. Obviously not the first nasty ex Jay has dealt with he jumped right in and was on top of everything. My ex had hidden funds and spent marital funds on gifts and vacations for his girlfriend, Jay nipped that immediately. My ex's attorney was no match for Jay. Jay had to handle other obligations and I was given Jessica or shall I say I was given to Jessica. She was just as amazing and just as brutal and tough as Jay. Although at times the communication could have been a teensy bit better by keeping me in the loop about what our next step will be and why we were doing what we were doing but I blame it on how focused and determined Jessica was to conquer this beast. Jessica was so confident and powerful I could see my ex lower his head every time she spoke. My proceedings lasted almost 28 months but not by fault of my attorneys. My ex's attorneys were pulling crap out of the sky to try and trip mine up and drag it out even longer but it didn't work my attorneys were done with the dog and pony show that they put on. To anyone out there afraid to take this step, walking through Jay O'Brien's doors and letting his firm take over and get what is rightfully yours is the hardest but the best step you can take. At one point Jay told me that I need to trust him and if I didn't then we need to go our separate ways. He told me I don't like to lose. This being my first dealing with an attorney I was scared and I was afraid every attack from my ex's attorney I needed to battle back but I didn't that's what Jay and Jessica were prepared to do and they did. Jay's firm CRUSHED my ex. I got everything I deserved and then some and then some more. My daughter and I will be truly okay. Protect yourself take the step so you can enjoy life again. Get an attorney who's not afraid to fight back, hire this firm. I cannot express how thankful I am that I scheduled an appointment and walked into the beginning of my new life.

Just wanted to take a few minutes and let people know about my experience with the Law Offices of Jay O'Brien. I recently went through a nasty divorce. Is there ever a good one? I hired a different lawyer at first because she was one of the cheaper quotes I received. Cheaper is not always better as ...I found out. Actually with all of the court continuances because she wasn't prepared ended up costing me hundreds of dollars each time she stepped in the court room to get another date on the docket. Finally I had enough and searched for other lawyers in my area and I came across this site and read some of the reviews and decided to call for an appointment. I'm glad I did. I knew that after being married for several years and having children under the age of 18, that I was going to have to pay something to the Ex. Jay was able to help me get a fair deal and actually brought things to the table that my first lawyer didn't even think about. I would highly recommend his office. I'm glad I came across this site and called.

I was so disappointed by my relationship with Mr. O'Brien. He is very disrespectful and not reliable when it comes to his word. He was very frustrated with my case, as I was, and because of some things that HE did not follow through on as a professional, it cost me quite a bit of money. After contact...ing other agencies I was informed that my attorney did not follow through with necessary paperwork, again, costing me. Instead of trying to make things right due to mistakes HE made, he blamed me and was very verbal in his frustration of my case instead of doing what is needed to conclude the madness. My ex-husband’s attorney got the best of him and he let it happened, at my cost, while bills continued to be emailed to me. He never even offered to make things right when there were areas I did the research but in court, things were not presented accurately, as a result, I lost and it cost me, but yet the demand for money is consistently coming. When I communicated my concerns and issues, I received very disrespectful communication with nothing but a threat regarding billing and pointing out my shortcomings and downfalls. I had a much better relationship with his associates and secretaries. THEY were responsive and kept me informed.

Used Jay in a contested divorce case that went to trial. My final judgment was as one sided as they come. During the course of the case he made many mistakes 1. Didn't subpeona records my wife was withholding, This cost me thousands 2. Asking for abatement of child support instead of recalculat...ion. At the final judgment I was forced to pay. This cost me thousands 3. Didn't go to court with market value of valuables. Instead let a judge determine the value. This cost me thousands 4. Constantly allowed the respondants lawyer to file continuances. 5. Very passive arguments during the trial 6. Recommended not to appeal the judgment. Every lawyer who reviewed case since disagreed with this recommendation. Other lawyers have reviewed my case and are suprised by the fact I even had a lawyer.
