I retained Olivia for a very sensitive post divorce matter after specifically seeking new counsel on this issue. During our initial consultation, she outlined a clear strategy, assured me her firm had handled numerous similar cases, and confirmed she was willing to take my case. Based on those representations, I moved forward. We had one introductory meeting. After that, Olivia advised me that it might make sense to wait before filing paperwork to formally replace my previous attorney, stating this would buy us more time. I relied on that guidance. Then, 8 business days before my next court date, and without any prior indication of concern or communication from her or her team, I received a brief email terminating the representation. No meaningful explanation was provided. No acknowledgment of the timing. No phone call. As a result, I was left scrambling to retain new counsel and bring them up to speed on a complex matter with only two weeks before court. The lack of consistency, follow through, and professional courtesy was deeply disappointing. If a firm does not have the capacity or commitment to see a case through, that should be made clear at the outset. This experience created unnecessary stress and risk during an already difficult time.

Lawyer who gave me agency

Olivia St. Clair Long helped me through a messy divorce. She definitely made me feel heard and that I had agency when my ex tried to get custody when our youngest was 17. He clearly just wanted to avoid paying for health insurance until he was 26. She said, "Oh... you did all the heavy lifting, an...d he wants custody when the youngest is 17?!" She helped me realize how ridiculous the old man was behaving.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
