Caryl Jacobs Gabe was a champion for me and my daughter. Her level of expertise, knowledge of the law, research capabilities and integrity was invaluable as well as her ability to apply individual differences in various situations. Caryl Jacobs Gabe has been suspended at least twice for misconduct by the ARDC of the Supreme Court of Illinois. When I interviewed her regarding my need for a divorce attorney in 2001, I asked that specific question. She replied that she had never been disciplined, let alone suspended. I hired her t...o represent me based, in part, upon that statement. This was a lie. She had been put on probation in March 1999, which had been the date of stay from her original suspension date of September 1998. She had violated her suspension by continuing to practice while under suspension. Her probation ran until September 2000, which was one year before I asked her if she had EVER been disciplined as an Attorney. This basic misrepresentation, reinforced by the use of a slightly different name in her BBB records, evidences a continuing pattern of lying and deception. Ms. Gabe was suspended AGAIN in 2007 for misconduct. Despite an agreed schedule for filing my divorce, she delivered the divorce papers three weeks later than the date we agreed upon. By delivering them to my ex-wife on our son's BIRTHDAY, our divorce was made much uglier that it might have been. Lastly, when my case was transferred to the Daley Center, she informed me that we did not want this judge, as the case would be long and expensive. Ms. Gabe said that she had not objected because this judge would be only the preliminary judge. This was incorrect, and my entire case lasted almost four years because Ms. Gabe failed to understand that the case had been assigned to an individual judge. This was a major failure of her understanding of the Cook County Courts process.
