Gregory Craig Nikitas

Gregory Nikitas has been licensed to practice law in Illinois since 1994. He is a graduate of Northwestern University and received his J.D. degree from DePaul University. He worked in the Lake County State's Attorney's Office from 1994 through 2000 before going into private practice.

In recognition of his skills and expertise as an Assistant State's Attorney, Mr. Nikitas was entrusted to handle many first-degree murder cases, six of which went to trial, and convictions were obtained on each case. He has handled hundreds of traffic court, misdemeanor, DUI, juvenile, and felony cases. He has personally tried more than 50 jury trials and over 150 bench trials. His experience and success qualified him as lead counsel to handle death penalty cases as a prosecutor. As a defense attorney, Mr. Nikitas has handled four murder cases in the past two years.

Among Mr. Nikitas' qualifications:

Licensed to practice in all state and federal courts in Illinois. He has also successfully handled cases in Wisconsin and Michigan.

Member of the Lake County Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association.

Certified by the Illinois Supreme Court to handle death penalty cases as lead defense attorney.

Extensive knowledge and experience with DNA evidence. Mr. Nikitas has background in the science of DNA evidence and has presented such evidence very successfully as both a prosecutor and a defense attorney.
