I began my legal career as an Assistant State's Attorney in the Cook County States Attorney's Office (CCSAO) in January, 1990. I initially defended criminal appeals. I quickly advanced to prosecuting misdemeanor and felony offenses in numerous trial courts throughout Cook County, Illinois. In April, 1994, I transferred to the CCSAO Civil Division where I primarily defended the Cook County Sheriff and his officials from civil rights cases in Federal Court. I conducted numerous federal jury trials, all to successful conclusion, as well as defended appeals in the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. From March, 1999 to August, 2000, I prosecuted Illinois Consumer Fraud Act violations and home repair fraud in both criminal court and civil chancery court. I left the CCSAO in August, 2000, and began working for the late Ronald L. Barnard, an experienced beer distributorship attorney who represented Beck's North America, which at that time was the sole importer of Beck's Beer from Germany. In September, 2001, I began working with the Northbrook, Illinois firm of Addis, Greenberg, Schultz & Elizer, LLC, which focused on commercial litigation, surety defense relating to public construction bonds, construction litigation, personal injury and criminal/traffic defense. In February, 2003, I created the law firm of Elizer & Meyerson, LLC, which focused on commercial litigation, surety defense, construction litigation, personal injury and criminal/traffic defense. Beginning in the year 2009, I began to focus exclusively on criminal and traffic defense and in January, 2014, I created the firm of Meyerson Law, LTD.
Throughout my career, I have tried hundreds of bench trials and dozens of jury trials in both state and federal court. I have argued cases in various state and federal appellate courts. I have handled serious felony cases, including Class X felonies, drug cases, weapons violations, theft cases, battery cases, reckless homicides, felony and misdemeanor DUI cases as well as a variety of other criminal and traffic offenses in both felony and misdemeanor court.
