Terrified of the new maintenance laws???? So was I until I spoke with Alex and now this returning client couldn't be happier!

I retained Alex in November of 2016 when I separated from my wife of 11 years. I had consulted with 2 other attorneys prior to contacting him and was made aware of some changes in the laws, specifically when it came to the subject of maintenance. It was explained to me by the other attorneys that ma...intenance is now awarded using a strict formula based on both parties income. After being told about this new system, I was told by both attorneys that I was pretty much screwed and would have to pay because I made three times what my now ex-wife made, and secondly because this new formula is rarely, if ever, deviated from even after I explained that my ex had a good paying job that she had left voluntarily. That did not sit well with me and I decided to give Alex a call and get his take on this since I had retained him back in 2003 for my first divorce where I was only married for 18 months and was extremely happy with how Alex and I worked together. The only reason I didn't contact him first this time was because I had moved out of the area and thought that might be an issue. We sat down for the consultation and I could see his wheels spinning as I explained my situation. When I was done, he asked me some standard questions and then told me that it wouldn't be impossible to get out of paying maintenance or even get it reduced, but it would be tough with the new laws. He explained some scenarios of how to approach this and they all seemed a bit scary and I knew I was in for a fight. At the end of the conversation/consultation, it was an easy decision to retain Alex because I knew that I would be in very capable hands after he explained some tactic he would use. I walked out of the office that day feeling a great deal of relief because Alex was more than willing to work hard for me and not just roll over and go along with the new laws like the previous attorneys I spoke to seemed to want to do. As we proceeded, we were hit with a few bumps in the road, all of which seemed like mountains at the time, but Alex always had a plan. He would give me options of how to proceed, the risks/benefits of each one, and then give me his recommendation for which option to go with. Whenever I had a question, he was prompt to respond whether I had contacted him via email or phone call. If I asked a question that was outside of his area of expertise, he would tell me instead of making something up to pacify me. In the end, Alex was able to impute income and save me in the neighborhood of $140,000 in maintenance. What does that mean? It means that because my ex had voluntarily left a good paying job to go back to a much lower paying job, my maintenance exposure was able to be based on the income she was receiving at the good paying job which dropped my maintenance exposure DRASTICALLY. To put numbers to it, my original maintenance exposure that they were seeking was roughly $1800/mo. With the imputed income, it was reduced to roughly $600/mo. I did not wind up paying that much because Alex was able to get the other side to agree to accept 100% of the proceeds from the sale of our house which I was absolutely fine with. It beats paying anything monthly and got the process finished and I couldn't be happier with the outcome! As far as my pension, she still got 50% of the marital value of that but there was no way around that since she didn't have one. As I said, when all was said and done, I couldn't be happier with Alex as my attorney! He always worked hard and let me know where we were at in the process. Alex is definitely NOT one of those "cookie cutter attorneys" who treats every case the same to get more cases. He takes the time to give each case his full attention and gives the unique circumstances within each case their due diligence. I cannot thank Alex enough for his hard work! ! He is honest, knowledgeable, professional, resourceful, and personable and to watch him work was truly impressive Give him a call!

Debt Collection on a Rental Property

We won! I was referred to Alex by another attorney, and I couldn't be more happy with him and his practice. My case was a breach of landlord/tenant contract for unpaid rent on my rental property. The tenants counter filed a claim against me claiming mold found in the bathroom was my fault (even thro...ugh they lived there for almost 5 years) and to them, resulted in medical issues and a constructive eviction. We were unable to settle , so the case went to trial. Not only did we win my case and get a Judgment in my favor, but they lost on every count of their counter-claim and I was awarded full damages plus all of my attorney’s fees and costs. I had never been through a lawsuit or had to go to court prior to this, and was completely impressed by Alex and his trial abilities. One of the things I like most about Alex is he listens. I would not hesitate to recommend Alex to friends and family members.

Debt Collection Matter

I recently retained Mr. Moskovic for the daunting task of collecting a debt from a fellow legal professional. Mr. Moskovic was not intimidated by the fact he was collecting a debt from another lawyer and he aggressively pursued the matter to the end. I am happy to report the debt was successfully c...ollected with little effort on my part. The fact Mr. Moskovic would not waiver in his diligence, despite the focus of the debt, is commendable. I thoroughly recommend him for any debt collection matter!

I WOULD REFER MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS TO ALEX

Alex handled my divorce about two years ago and I was happy with his services. I appreciated that he was straight forward and trustworthy. It was a difficult situation and he worked with me to cut through some of the problems. He came up with several ideas on going forward with the divorce so tha...t I would be better situated after the settlement. After the divorce I understood better that he took care of many details. Therefore, I'm not burdened going forward. Thank you Alex and Associates.

"Even practicing attorneys regularly refer friends and valued clients to another attorney for certain matters or issues. Whom they choose speaks volumes. For more than twenty years I have proudly recommended my colleague and friend Alex Moskovic to many people important to me because I know he is a very talented, caring, and ethical lawyer. Alex fights hard and is quick on his feet in the courtroom. His word is his bond. And while most attorneys lack the ability to be a good litigator and at the same time someone with whom you can have a normal conversation, Alex has mastered both. He genuinely cares about his clients and about fighting for what is right. For these reasons I highly and confidently endorse him."
