Client’s Murder Charge Successfully Appealed

On July 4th, 2015 in Brownfield, TX, the defendant was pulled over by police and charged with murder. However, police failed to properly interrogate the defendant and all rights were not read. Once ... arrested, Fred Stangl worked with the defendant to suppress statements made to police. The Terry County Trial Court originally granted a motion to suppress and the State of Texas appealed the decision. Appeal Decision On January 7th, Fred Stangl won the case in the Court of Appeals on behalf of his client, accused of murder in Terry County. The 7th Court of Appeals in Amarillo agreed that his client’s constitutional rights were violated by law enforcement officers investigating the case. All evidence illegally obtained in the investigation was suppressed.
