Lesley’s legal practice will focus on all aspects of Family Law proceedings. Lesley is licensed to practice in North Dakota state and federal courts and is also licensed in Minnesota State Court.
Prior to joining Fremstad Law Firm, Lesley represented the State of North Dakota at the Fargo Regional Child Support Unit. She was responsible for all aspects of paternity, child support, and medical support legal actions,including reviewing existing child support obligations, and, when appropriate, taking steps to modify. Through her work with the Child Support Unit, Lesley also gained extensive knowledge of residential responsibility (custody) and parenting time (visitation) issues, concerns, and procedures. Lesley also has courtroom experience in family law cases through her work at the child support unit.
Prior to joining the child support office, Lesley served as a trial court Law Clerk to two different district court judges in the Minnesota 9th Judicial District. Prior to her most recent clerkship, she was also in a private law practice focusing on family law and personal injury.
Lesley graduated with distinction from the University of North Dakota School of Law. During law school, Lesley served as the Managing Editor of the North Dakota Law Review and her published case comment (82 N.D. L. Rev. 1 (2005)) was awarded the North Dakota Bar Foundation Outstanding Note/Case Comment award.
Lesley received her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University, in Washington, D.C., where she received a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service, majoring in Foreign Policy and Policy Process. Lesley currently serves as a volunteer Georgetown University Alumni Admissions Program interviewer for prospective Georgetown University undergraduates. Prior to law school, Lesley worked as a paralegal for a major corporate immigration law firm in Los Angeles, California and as a paralegal for the head attorney at Paramount Pictures’ International Television division in Hollywood, California..
A native of the Devils Lake, North Dakota area, Lesley enjoys riding and showing horses, reading, traveling, and spending time with her son and her extended family
