Mark R. Western

Mark is an experienced civil litigator who tries cases to juries and has provided successful results for his clients. Along with his trial experience, Mark has successfully argued multiple cases to the North Dakota Supreme Court. Mark’s clients have included business entities of all sizes and types as well as individuals that require legal counseling, litigation support, or lobbying advocacy before city, county, and state units of government.

At Fremstad Law, Mark’s practice areas include personal injury, business litigation, and insurance litigation. Getting into a car accident is a traumatizing and overwhelming experience. Mark is experienced in advising personal injury clients about potential legal remedies and navigating complicated legal procedures. Although Mark has been successful at trial, he knows that lengthy and complicated trials are not always necessary to resolve a case. Mark is also familiar with alternative dispute resolution options, which often saves his clients time, money, and emotional energy.  Additionally, Mark’s experience in and out of government equips him well to assist clients in government relations.

What Makes Mark The Attorney He Is Today

Mark started his career as a high school government and history teacher in a small Minnesota community. Mark discovered that his true calling was in the legal field, but continues to use his teaching background to educate his clients on options. After graduating from UND law school, Mark practiced at a large Fargo law firm for 10 years, where he gained experience in a variety of civil litigation issues.

Community Involvement

Mark is also dedicated to helping others in his community. He is the current Dean of Counselors for American Legion North Dakota Boys’ State, where he has been a staff member for more than 20 years. He is also an active member and past president of the Fargo Lions Club. Mark has been a member of the Cass County Bar Association since being called to the bar.

Mark grew up and worked on a grain farm in western North Dakota and later served as a legislative aide in the Minnesota House of Representatives. He has also served as a city council member and as a former Special Assistant Attorney General. Mark is a frequent presenter on insurance issues and personal injury issues to local organizations, including the F/M Claims Association; PIA of North Dakota; Blue Goose - Fargo Pond and the Fargo Chapter of NALS. In his free time, he enjoys spoiling his daughters, Jeeping, and spending time at the lake.
