James Arthur Teigland

A former business associate sued my partner and I claiming that we had wrongfully withheld money from her, had wrongfully kicked her out of the business, taken property from her, and she was seeking control of the business my partner and I had started. The plaintiff and her attorney took a very aggre...ssive approach to the litigation and within a day or two of the lawsuit starting the Plaintiff's attorney was calling my partner and I to demand that we basically turn the keys of our business over to him. We hired James Teigland and Joel Fremstad of the Fremstad Law Firm to represent my partner and I in the dispute. Joel prepared an initial response to the lawsuit that same day. James began working with my partner and I to come up with a comprehensive response to the lawsuit, which contained blatantly false information. James was thorough and tireless. The business did not work out but I know I had excellent legal representation during the entire process and that the business would not have stayed open as long as it did without James's assistance. I would recommend that anyone that starts or owns a business talk to James or Joel. We received poor advice from another attorney when my partner and I started our business, which likely contributed to the litigation. I think that if my partner and I had talked to Joel or James, much of this could have been avoided. I would also recommend James to anyone that does have a business or corporate dispute that needs resolution. From what I've seen, some attorneys main goal is to bill as many hours as possible on a case. James's goal is to actually resolve disputes. Joel and James make a great team and I hope to do work with them again in the future under more favorable circumstances.
