Worst attorney I could have ever hired...

(Note: Don't confuse this attorney with Gregory WAYNE Abbott who is the attorney general in Texas). While Gregory ANDREW Abbott also practices in Texas, he is also licensed in the state of Minnesota (note his PO box) and tells his clients that he is an "expert" in his particular areas of law. What cr...edentials DON'T tell you about a lawyer is that no amount of "expertise" can ever help you achieve your legal objectives if your lawyer simply isn't willing to do the work. Despite initially telling me that he would likely be putting "hundreds of hours" into my case and that he was "brilliant" in the courtroom he completely failed at both in retrospect. Attorney Abbott failed to initiate regular contact with me during the course of his employ; came unprepared in front of various judges which caused extensive delays in the processing of my case; refused to do any work to subpoena and depose witnesses who were absolutely critical to my case despite promising me several times that he would; failed to notice and correct errors in legal documents submitted to the court which substantially harmed my claims; lost my entire case at trial and then defrauded me out of a balance of funds that were due back to me despite written requests by me to account for and return those funds. Attorney Abbott also finally admitting to me before trial that the reason he had not done more work on my case was that it would have negatively affect his effective hourly bill rate (he was on a fixed-price contract and had been paid for most of his work in advance). In retrospect, I could not have hired a WORSE lawyer to represent my civil claims and I lost a substantial amount of time and money by hiring this lawyer. You should also note that this attorney does NOT carry professional liability insurance and no lawyer in the state will sue another lawyer who doesn't have professional liability insurance. If you hire ANY lawyer, you should at a minimum have a mandatory arbitration clause added to your contract or move on to another lawyer who is willing to add one.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
