Bank sues a disabled veteran for six figures on an old mortgage that client had thought was discharged. Client was considering bankruptcy but he really wanted an alternative approach. With lawsuit ... pending and client with limited resources, I settled the account for 20% of the balance. Client was also put on a payment plan - provided that he pay consistently for 3 years, the negotiated balance would then fall off - so effectively the settlement will be for about 15 % of the original amount the bank had sued on.
OUTCOME: Positive Settlement for Client
