I am a business trial attorney practicing in the area of business litigation, including financial fraud, securities law, business divorce, partnership disputes, shareholder disputes, employment disputes, non-competition agreements, executive compensation, director and officer liability, construction, and vendor disputes. I’m also known for my work representing the disabled, elderly and vulnerable adults in a variety of matters, including fraud and abuse. I regularly appear in the federal and state courts of Minnesota, as well as before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) where I represent customers, and I represent registered representative in employment and regulatory matters. The Minnesota Law & Politics magazine recognized me over the last five years as one of the Top 40 business litigators in Minnesota. I am also certified as a civil trial specialist by the Minnesota State Bar Association. During law school, I served as the managing editor of the Hamline Law Review and was a special editor for the “Non-Posnerian Law and Economics Symposium”, Vol. XII, No. 2 (1989). I served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Mary Jeanne Coyne of the Minnesota Supreme Court. I am also an honors graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College where, as a trackster, I now give meaning to the saying “the older we get, the faster we were”.
I am also active in the disability community. I serve on the Board of Directors and executive committee for the PACER Center, a national non-profit supporting families with children with disabilities. I serve on legislative taskforces adressing policy issues in special education and autism.
I often serve as a mediator and arbitrator, typically in matters involving FINRA issues, shareholder business disputes, or unique issues involving the vulnerable and disabled.

I hired Don McNeil in 2011 for help with defending me against a non-compete case. And soon after that, my business partner and I used him to help with our partnership documents. When I first met Don, we formed an immediate repore which has lead to a long-term client/attorney relationship that I still...

I hired Don McNeil to assist my business partner and I on a very sensitive matter involving a lawsuit threatened against us individually and against our company. Don immediately jumped into our case reassuring and educating us on the legal process related to the frivolous allegations made against us...
"I endorse this lawyer. We used Don to mediate an investment loss matter v. a FINRA member BD and an associated person. Don effectiveness in helping us resolve the matter stems from his expertise in understanding the subject matter which commands immediate respect from attorneys and clients. That credibility inexorably brought the sides together, accompanied by his personal touch which clients can't help but feel that he truly cares about them and achieving a resolution they can live with. That "caring" is absent in many mediators. I will definitely use Don again and recommend him to others. Great job Don!"
"I endorse this lawyer. I hired Don for a difficult mediation. He quickly grasped the issues and established a great rapport with counsel and the clients. No issue was too small for him to give attention to, and he worked tirelessly to get the case settled."
