Divorce Decree

I was represented by Jennifer Macaulay in a divorce during 2019. It was a stressful time in my life, and I felt like a lawyer would be helpful in my case; after a consult, Jennifer agreed. Choosing a lawyer is not my specialty. While Jennifer was initially engaging, I feel differently about my decisi...on to select her for my case. Based on what I know now, I would have solicited other lawyers' perspectives on my situation before hiring. It is my impression Jennifer frequently handles cases similar to mine, and she was content to process my paperwork for $4,200, without much personalized investment. It felt like I was being funneled through the process. Shortly after the divorce was finalized by the court, my ex-wife filed an order for protection. This was no small turn of events, and Jennifer was not available to help. In the end, I transferred my case to another lawyer who was a more committed and discerning advocate for my needs. Since originally posting this review, Jennifer has actively disputed my opinions. She strikes me as someone who is committed to upholding a positive reputation. Overall, Ms. Macaulay is a confident, competent individual who was entirely capable of handling my case. I'm not sure what else to say; I wish things had gone differently in many ways. For example, I wish I hadn't sent $200 cash in a letter to Ms. Macaulay as a 'thank you' for her initial consultation - which was free. As I mentioned in the beginning, choosing a lawyer is not my specialty.
