Matthew Paul Lawlyes

Matthew Lawlyes is an associate attorney at Wilson Law Group, where he serves the diverse business, employment, construction and personal needs of his clients. Matthew is licensed to practice before the Federal District Court in Minnesota and the State Courts of Minnesota, Wisconsin, and North Dakota. Prior to joining Wilson Law Group, Matthew represented national and international clients in insurance disputes, with an emphasis on the coverage afforded by insurance policies for commercial disputes, environmental contamination, construction defects, professional malpractice, and SEC violations. Matthew has also represented clients in criminal matters. During law school, Matthew served as a student-certified attorney for the Tenth Judicial District Public Defender’s Office. Prior to law school, Matthew worked for the Innocence Project, where he investigated claims of innocence submitted by prisoners who had been convicted and sentenced to prison for the most serious of crimes.

Matthew graduated magna cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School, where he served as the managing director of the Maynard Pirsig Moot Court, competed on the American Bar Association negotiation competition team, helped create the first student-taught course offered at the law school, and joined the Community Practice and Policy Development Clinic. Matthew earned his bachelors’ degree from the University of Illinois Springfield, where he studied issues relating to poverty and substance abuse.
