Steven Russell Coon

Hired Coon for a small claims matter last week of June 2021. He failed to inform me that the opposing side had submitted a brief (which is not allowed in conciliation court) Coon did not object to the brief in court. The other side also submitted a large volume of documents that were also not shar...ed with me. We went into trial "blind" not knowing the other side's full position. The court ruled against me. In discussing appealing with Coon he suggested to save money that it should be done pro-se. On Sept. 21, 2021 Coon assured me that he would take over if I decided i needed help. On October 24, 2021 I reminded Coon I wanted help eventually with the case. On that same day Coon replied "OK." On 12-12-21 I asked coon about bringing a motion for summary judgment now or soon. On that same day Coon said the matter is appropriate for summary judgment but added it would be costly. On 12-12-21 I asked about handling the deposition and mediation for me. I never heard from Coon again. I sent a follow up email on Feb 23, 2022 ask for reply. This also was ignored by Coon.

Mr. Steven Coon represented me in a lawsuit related to a contract dispute. As someone who has never been involved in a lawsuit and had limited funds to defend my case I am thankful that I was referred to Mr. Coon and that he agreed to represent me. With the opposition possessing far greater resourc...es, I believe many in my position would have eventually given up based on the attrition a legal proceeding can have on a person - mentally, physically, and financially. Thankfully, Mr. Coon was able to counsel me throughout the process providing information, education, and expert guidance in the pursuit of a successful closure to this matter. While I am certain there are attorneys that are equally professional as Mr. Coon, I doubt that many of those attorneys possess the personal intercommunication skills like Mr. Coon which helped us develop a strong relationship of trust and a legal strategy that was agile to adjust as the legal matter evolved. I wasn't just a case number or client ID to him. If he were a doctor we would call this an excellent "bedside manner" and Mr. Coon could have been equally successful as a physician had his path taken him in that direction. Mr. Coon was also incredibly responsive to all of my emails, calls, and texts. In most of those requests he responded the same day or early the next day. I believe for my specific legal situation, Mr. Coon was the right attorney from the right-sized law firm to represent me and my interests professionally and efficiently. I never doubted a single invoice from Mr. Coon who I felt provided exemplary legal representation at an hourly rate that provided very good value for the services rendered. I cannot emphasize this final point enough - had I engaged a larger firm which often has commensurately larger invoices I would have likely had to end my legal defense due to financial reasons. Instead, I am pleased to report that Mr. Coon represented me and my legal matter through its successful completion and final outcome. This would not have been possible without Mr. Coon and his counseling throughout the process. Thank you Steven for agreeing to represent me, your professionalism, your counseling, and your legal expertise. I will not hesitate to engage Mr. Coon and his law firm for any of my legal needs in the future. I highly recommend Mr. Steven Coon.

On this repeat offense of mine they took my vehicle away and was lost on how to get it back. Everybody else quoted a way higher price than he charged. Steven responded to my emails always in a timely manner. I was able to drop off my documentation’s first the forfeiture notice to his secretary.(conve...niently located office downtown Minneapolis) And he got me vehicle buyback for a reasonably low price. He does good work and is truly giving back where most lawyers think of the job as a way to get rich off of desperate situations. Highly recommend.

After one initial hiring meeting, he refused to meet with us to go over the already prepared trial documents and witness statements. Made factual errors in common with opposing attorneys and hurt our case. Charged us thousands for work we told him we did not want him to do. We feel after many thou...sand of $ of his fees paid he has lost he case for us.....and treated us disrespectfully in the process
