Showed zeal initially, then became impossible to reach. We finally requested our case file and chose a different lawyer.

We sought the services of Mr. Petry some time ago, while he was still with the firm Mansfield, Tanick, & Cohen. Initially, Mr. Petry showed zeal in the pursuit of our personal injury case. He scheduled interviews, met with us, assured us he would be on top of things and that the hospital collectio...ns would stop calling us because they would be dealing with him. After about 2-3 weeks from our meeting with him, we started getting calls from the hospital again. Turns out Mr. Petry took their calls initially, but he stopped responding to all inquiries from the hospital after their initial conversations. Simply put, the hospitals just wanted to know if we had new contact info for Mr. Petry because none of their messages were being returned. We began to worry because we weren't being informed of the situation from Mr. Petry. So we called his firm directly. We chose Mr. Petry because of a professional connection to other attorney's at this same firm. These individuals at this firm informed us that Mr. Petry was indeed still at their firm and that we had the most up to date contact information. They told us that they would follow up with Rick to see if he was getting our messages. Fast forward another 2 weeks and still nothing from Mr. Petry. We literally heard nothing from him after the interview to asses injuries. During this time, the number of phones calls from the hospital increased, all seeking the same thing, who to speak with regarding our account situation. We again contacted the firm Mansfield, Tanick, and Cohen to inquire about Mr. Petry. Again they told us that he still worked there, and that when asked, he said he did get the messages. Fast forward another couple of weeks and still nothing from him. At this point, we had left several messages over the span of two months and heard nothing from him. We had signed a retainer agreement initially, so he was definitely our legal representation on the matter. We were forced to call the firm, and request our case file so that we could seek representation elsewhere. We weren't able to get through to Mr. Petry so we had another attorney's assistant take the request for us, and sent an email requesting the same. Upon receipt of the case file, Mr. Petry's work, or lack thereof became apparent. Once we looked it over with the new attorney, he basically informed us that in his opinion, Mr. Petry likely didn't think we would be a "big money" case or that it wasn't a "winner" so he stalled and stalled until we made the choice to relieve him of his legal obligation to us. The new attorney handled the hospital calls and eventually got a settlement done. The big difference here is that the new attorney walked us through the process and told us from the get-go that it would be a long process.
